Objectives

 

The workshop will be the opportunity to confront needs and solutions and it will gather policy makers, scientists, service operators and EO application specialists.

Special attention will be paid to regional perspectives, such as the Danube strategy, the Black Sea and the Western Balkans.

The workshop aims at :

  • Promoting dialogue with Sustainable Development and Security actors and partners on both sides of the Black Sea basin
  • Supporting satellite data uptake as well as identify new challenges
  • Promoting transboundary space-based services particularly by SMEs
  • Fostering space-enabled digital “skills for the future” among the young generation
  • The workshop is being jointly organised by the Bulgarian Academy of Science and the European Space Agency under the auspices of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, and in cooperation with the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC)
  • The workshop will gather national and local government staff, scientists, service providers in particular SMEs, young entrepreneurs and Earth observation specialists
  • The workshop is organised around invited oral presentations and discussions led by moderators
  • Participants are expected to finance their own travel and accommodation expenses (see also the accommodation section)
  • Participation will be free of charge. The working language will be English
  • The workshop is being organised in coordination with the adjacently organised Copernicus event
