Background

The EO Science Strategy Review Workshop was held on May 7 and 8th at ESA-ESRIN. The Review workshop follows a previous consultation with the EO community in June 2023 during the EO Science Strategy Workshop held in Bruges, Belgium. Summaries of the splinter sessions held at the Review Workshop have been collated and provided online on the workshop website. These summaries already capture the recommendations made during the workshop. All registered workshop participants can now provide any additional final online feedback on elements of the EO Science Strategy 2040 by suggesting improvements in the draft document.

As communicated at the workshop, community feedback comprising workshop and online contributions will be tabled for consideration at the June 12-13th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Earth Observation (ACEO). ACEO is the senior advisory body to the Director of Earth Observation Programmes on all matters concerning Earth science for ESA's Earth Observation Programmes. Please note that ACEO members also participated in the 2023 and 2024 workshops as observers. A final update to the document is planned following the ACEO meeting in the June or September time frame, and will take into account their recommendations.
