Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor Validation Team Workshop
11-14 Nov. 2019 – ESA/ESRIN
Frascati (Rome) Italy
In the frame of the Copernicus Programme, ESA is managing the Sentinel-5 Precursor (S5p) mission on behalf of the European Commission in support of services on air quality, climate and ozone forecasting and monitoring. S5p was successfully launched on October 13 2017. The Commissioning Phase was finalized on April 24 2018, followed by the S5p ramp-up phase. Since March 05 2019 S5p is in routine operations phase.
During the ramp-up phase S5p core products were released to the public in staggered approach. Details about the different product releases can be found at:

All S5p products are available to the public via the Copernicus Open Access Data Hub: https://scihub.copernicus.eu/
The uncertainty characterization of the S5p core products is an ongoing activity. Operational S5p Cal/Val activities are performed within the S5p Mission Performance Centre (MPC) at http://mpc-vdaf.tropomi.eu/.
The international user community is complementing S5p MPC activities by dedicated projects that are nationally funded in response to an open ESA Announcement of Opportunity Call – earth.esa.int/aos/S5PVT. So far 56 projects are included in the Sentinel-5p Validation Team (S5PVT).
The purpose of this Workshop is to gather feedback from the S5PVT about the uncertainty characterisation of all S5p products that have been released to the public by the time of the S5PVT Workshop.
