objectives
The Sentinel-2 Validation Team (S2VT) meeting gathers scientists, cal/val experts and users of Sentinel-2 data from all around the world to discuss about cal/val methodologies and to share the latest results of their on-going activities related to validation and quality assessment of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 EO data. The aim of the S2VT is to collect independent data quality feedback and validation results obtained by international experts and users while exploiting Sentinel-2 data.
The specific objectives of this meeting are:
Discussing and reviewing the cal/val methodologies applied to the Sentinel-2 core products.
Collecting lessons learnt about validation procedures in order to improve quality assessment best practices for the Sentinel-2 core products, both for radiometry and geometry.
Providing a forum for exchanging and reporting about results of on-going science activities using higher-level Sentinel-2 products, as further data validation methodology.
Providing recommendations on specific Sentinel-2 data validation needs (e.g., ad-hoc validation campaigns, network of validation sites, etc.).
Providing recommendations about cal/val methodologies and EO data quality for the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission.
Bringing together the Sentinel-2 international scientific and user community and promoting cooperation and synergies among Cal/Val teams from all around the world.
