PostDoc

IQ of the Leibniz Universität Hannover

Dr. Sven Abend (m) is PostDoc at the IQ of the Leibniz Universität Hannover. He joined the group of Prof. Ernst M. Rasel in 2008 as undergraduate student. In 2017 he finished his PhD with the title “Atom-chip Gravimeter with Bose-Einstein condensates”. For the work presented in his thesis he was awarded a Poster prize at the International School of Physics ’Enrico Fermi’, Course 197 (2016) as well as the Lord Rank Funds junior speaker prize at the Symposium on “Quantum Enhanced Gravimeters“(2017). Currently he is involved in the activities centered around the BECCAL mission on the ISS and pursues his research on large momentum transfer in optical lattice in the framework of the QUANTUS collaboration as well as the European project TAIOL. He coordinates the QGyro/QGyro+ project from IQ side, which has the aim to apply atom interferometry with ultracold atoms and BECs to inertial navigation.
